“Gimme, gimme. My dinner’s in there!“
Anything involving food seems to bring out learning and observation abilities hitherto hidden in many family dogs, so is it not altogether surprising Viscount Plastics is predicting thousands of chops licked whenever canines see a Flip Lok plastic container in their owners’ hands.
This confidence is based on consumer response to a Purine One ‘free storage container’ value-added retail promotion. Created and instigated by brand manager, Susan O’Brien, and her team at Purina PetCare, the promotion rewards purchasers of 3.6 kg bags of Purina One with a one-off free 16 litre Flip Lok container into which they can decant the dry dog food.
The promotion is also the first large scale use of a Viscount Plastics Flip Lok container. Key features of containers in this new range are the shelf-stable rectangular shape and self-hinging, tamper evident ’Flip Lok’ lid.
“When Viscount Plastics first showed us a sample of the Flip Lok container we agreed it had real potential,“ explained Susan O’Brien, “However it was a case of deciding on the best application and when to do it.
“With recent sales successes driven by activities such as the Purina One 30 Day Challenge, we felt well positioned to encourage supermarket chains to give larger size Purina One packs more shelf space and also widen their distribution. In terms of consumer appeal, we saw the Flip Lok as meaningful and worthwhile for pet owners. Just looking at this container is enough to tell you it keeps out moisture and is easy to use.
“We got together with Viscount Plastics and were soon signing off a Flip Lok container custom coloured in Purine One maroon. That and the stylish good looks and easy-to-pour lid, how could the Flip Lok miss! We’re getting a great response from the supermarket chains and Purina One purchasers are clambering for the container.”
To access contents of Flip Lok containers distributing food products, a very obvious tamper evident seal must be broken before the lid can be opened.
