New Materials Handling Range

NEWS FLASH – Viscount Plastics New Materials Handling Range!

Viscount Plastics New Zealand (VPNZ) General Manager Sean Delaney is a firm believer that suppliers can learn a lot from listening to customers. Since taking up his appointment in early 2008, Mr. Delaney has put a priority on establishing a dialogue with some of New Zealand’s key materials handling entities.

“We have gone to our customers and asked them - ‘if we were to carry a range of bulk materials handling items, what products would they like Viscount Plastics to hold - their response has been key in establishing this new strategy” says Mr. Delaney.

The 2009 Materials Handling Show will see the launch of a new and extended range of materials handling products for Viscount Plastics. This range will include stocked lines of rigid sided and foldable bins, pallets, retail bins, and produce and security crates. In addition to this, VPNZ has strong international partnerships to source world class plastic materials handling solutions should a customer require a unique product.

While in line with customer requests, the new range is also compatible with the company’s environmental strategies and drive towards producing and holding a larger variety of returnable transit packaging (RTP) products (Returnable Plastic Packaging describes multi-trip, reusable plastic crates, bins, trays and pallets of the kind that worldwide are replacing one-trip cardboard transit packaging). First of its kind research now proves RTP's product carbon footprint to be much smaller than one-trip cardboard cartons. Product carbon footprint (PCF) is a measurement of Greenhouse Gas emissions over a product's life cycle and its contribution to global warming. Independent studies have shown that RTP products hold a 70% more efficient carbon footprint than similar one way cardboard packaging.

RTP is not just about a companies ability to fall in line with its ‘green policies’, the solution must also be cost effective. Replacing single trip cardboard cartons with plastic RTP, on average pays for itself after just 12 return trips (with a usable life of at least 92 return trips).

In the past, Viscount Plastics have predominately carried ‘made to order’ RTP crates and materials handling products, rather than a fully stocked range. In order to meet the needs of their customers, and to grow their materials handling category, Viscount Plastics will hold a wide range of products readily available for purchase in smaller or larger quantities - of which will be reviewed regularly and adjusted according to customer demand.
