Goodman Fielder onto a winner

The brief to Viscount Plastics was for creative packaging design that would move Goodman Fielder’s Sunshine and Choice brands to the premium end of the catering spread category

The result is the 4litre Ezy Pak container that was recently judged winner of the Packaging Council Supreme Award in the 2005 Environmentally Acceptable Packaging Awards.

The Ezy Pak is a rectangular extension of the Viscount Plastics developed EZY Pail. Both share smooth flowing aesthetics and patented ‘Liftab’. The ‘Liftab’ provides tamper resistance and tamper evidence, and when the lid is in use allows easy one-finger removal.

Goodman Fielder Brand Manager, Commercial, Amanda Carmichael reports wins in brand positioning and customer acceptance.

“Anecdotal feed back from the trade is very positive with the unique shape getting special mention as user friendly,” says Amanda. “Compared with usual margarine containers our new pack is longer and shallower. This makes it much easier and cleaner when removing contents with a spoon. The Ezy Pak has also been welcomed as easier to stack on shelves. Winning the Supreme Award was incredibly well received, adding value to both brands in the eyes of the trade.

“We want to be seen as innovative, and as category leaders. Viscount Plastics has definitely helped Goodman Fielder achieve this for our Sunshine and Choice brands. The packaging is attractive. It’s innovative. It’s one of a kind. When we next look to work on any innovative packaging projects we’ll be calling in Viscount Plastics.”
